The engine, again against conventional wisdom of the day, was air-cooled: an SOHC, all-alloy, iron-cylinder-lined version of the 444-cc twin introduced on Honda's CB450 motorcycle in 1965, the displacement was reduced to 360 cc so that it could fit within Japan's kei-car parameters.
